Forest Lakes

Last weekend, my friends and I went camping at our favorite spot. It is a beautiful location in the mountains, and to get to the camping areas by the lake, we hike in about half an hour from the road.

I love camping. I love being in the mountains, looking out at the glassy water, hiking around in the fields of wild flowers, sitting by the campfire with good friends and a beer... It's nice to get away from my computer for a few days, to really enjoy the outdoors. This past weekend I took my new friend, the Polaroid, and snapped a few shots of our trip, which I will now share with you. Enjoy!

The little camera takes surprisingly high quality photos, although I can't seem to find a way to make it shoot without the flash.

This is just about the size of the actual photo. The small prints are so cute!

Polaroid Photo of the Day

This is a photo of a painting I've been working on reflected in the mirror in my office. I love my new Polaroid camera!  I will be out of town this weekend, so no new photos until Monday.

Playing with my Polaroid

You may have noticed that I have lost interest in my cell phone photo of the day. Originally the fun was partly in the challenge of working with the cell phone camera's limitations, instead of using my big professional camera, but this "assignment" no longer interests me. However, this week I purchased a new Polaroid. I'm excited that they have not gone extinct and the company has, in fact, created a new camera that takes photos not much larger than a business card.

My new camera arrived yesterday, and I am having fun playing around with it. The first two things I noticed are that I can't stand too close to my subject or it gets blurry, and what I see through the view finder has little to do with what the actual photo will look like. These new challenges interest me, so I've decided I will put a few of the photos here on my blog. I am going to do a photo of the day with my Polaroid, much like I did with the cell phone, but this experiment will be quite a bit shorter. To start with I only bought 3 packs of film, just enough to take 30 photos, and I don't know when I will get more. But stay tuned for the next couple of weeks to see what I do with my new project!

Rob and Amanda, May 28, 2010

On May 28th, Rob and Amanda exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, followed by a reception at the Rembrandt Yard in downtown Boulder. The weather was perfect, the couple was beautiful, and it was an all-around wonderful day. I am so happy to be a part of the experience! I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
